Your data, clearly explained

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Sabiwork collects, why we use it, and the choices available to customers and service providers.

Effective: 2 September 2026 Applies to the Sabiwork app and website

1. About this policy

Sabiwork is a location-based service marketplace that helps customers discover nearby professionals and helps service providers present their work and manage requests. This policy applies when you use the Sabiwork mobile application or visit this website.

We process personal information only for clear service, safety, operational and legal purposes. Depending on the activity, our basis may include performing our agreement with you, your consent, compliance with legal obligations, or legitimate interests that do not override your rights.

2. Information we collect

Account information

  • Name, email address, telephone number, account role and account status.
  • An optional profile photograph and notification token.
  • Authentication and account-security information managed through Firebase Authentication.

Service-provider information

  • Business name, category, description, services, indicative price range and availability.
  • Business address, pinned map location, telephone preferences and optional social links.
  • Business profile photograph and portfolio photographs or videos.

Bookings, reviews and support information

  • Service requests, booking details, dates, status updates and cancellation reasons.
  • Ratings, written reviews and optional photographs of completed work.
  • Messages or information you provide when asking for assistance or reporting a problem.

Technical information

We may receive basic device, application, network, crash and security information needed to operate, protect and troubleshoot the service. This website does not intentionally use advertising cookies.

3. How we use information

  • Create and maintain customer, provider and administrator accounts.
  • Show relevant provider profiles and enable location-based service discovery.
  • Create, update and manage bookings, cancellations, ratings and reviews.
  • Display provider portfolios and help customers assess available services.
  • Send service-related notifications and important account updates.
  • Prevent misuse, enforce account restrictions, secure the platform and investigate faults.
  • Improve reliability, performance, accessibility and the overall Sabiwork experience.
  • Meet applicable legal, regulatory and record-keeping obligations.

4. Location information

With device permission, customers can share their current location when searching for nearby providers. Sabiwork sends the search coordinates and selected radius to its application server to return relevant results. The app uses geohashing to narrow the search area and then calculates distance more precisely.

Service providers choose and save a business location so customers can find them. That location, the business address and an approximate distance may be shown to signed-in users as part of the provider profile and map experience.

You can deny or withdraw device location permission in your phone settings. Nearby search may not work correctly without it. Providers can update their saved business location from their business profile.

5. How information is shared

We do not sell personal information. Information may be shared only as needed to provide and protect Sabiwork:

  • Between users: provider profile details are shown to customers, and relevant booking details are shared with the customer and provider involved in the request.
  • With service providers: Firebase supports authentication, database storage, file storage, cloud functions and notifications. Google Maps supports map display and location features.
  • For legal and safety reasons: information may be disclosed where required by law, a valid government request, or when reasonably necessary to protect users, the public or the platform.
  • During organisational changes: information may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, acquisition or asset transfer, subject to appropriate protections.

When you open a telephone, WhatsApp, website or social-media link from a provider profile, the destination service applies its own privacy terms.

6. Retention and security

We retain information only for as long as it is reasonably needed to operate the service, preserve booking and review integrity, resolve disputes, maintain security, and meet legal obligations. Different records may have different retention periods.

Sabiwork uses access controls, authenticated requests, protected cloud storage rules and server-side validation to reduce unauthorised access or changes. No digital service can guarantee absolute security, so users should protect their password, device and sign-in session.

7. Your choices and rights

You can update certain account and business-profile details inside the app, control optional profile media, change location permission through device settings and control whether a business telephone number may be called.

Subject to applicable law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you may have rights to be informed, request access or correction, object to or restrict certain processing, request portability or deletion where applicable, and lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Some requests may be limited where information must be retained for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, disputes, or the rights of other users. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

8. Children

Sabiwork is intended for people who can lawfully create and manage an account. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children who cannot provide valid consent. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information should contact the Sabiwork project administrator so the matter can be reviewed.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app, our practices or legal requirements change. The revised version will show a new effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through the app or another appropriate channel.

10. Contact and complaints

To ask a privacy question, exercise a data right or report a privacy concern, contact the Sabiwork project administrator through the official support contact provided with the application. Include enough information to identify your account and explain the request, but do not send your password.

If you are not satisfied with the response, you may have the right to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Publishing note: add Sabiwork’s official privacy email or business address here before the public launch so users always have a direct contact channel.
